# `CefrLevel`

A language ability level, from `A1` to `C2`.

Use it for language courses and job adverts. For the language itself, use [`Language`](/docs/types/type-language.md).

## Shape

One of these 6 values:

| Value | Written |
|---|---|
| `CefrLevel.a1` | `A1` |
| `CefrLevel.a2` | `A2` |
| `CefrLevel.b1` | `B1` |
| `CefrLevel.b2` | `B2` |
| `CefrLevel.c1` | `C1` |
| `CefrLevel.c2` | `C2` |

## Example

```jadpo
CefrLevel.b2
```

`text.parse(raw, as: CefrLevel)` reads one from text that comes from outside. Text that isn't one at all fails `malformed`, such as `C3`, `B` or `native`.

## Good to know

- `==` tells you whether two are the same. `<` and `list.sort_by` don't take it.

## In JSON

A string, in a request, a response or `json.write`:

```json
"A1"
"B2"
"C2"
```

## Details

<details>
<summary>Text form, storage, how it is shown, and operations</summary>

`CefrLevel` is in the group Other with a published standard, and has been in Jadpo since 0.1.0.

### Text form

`text.from` writes one standard text form, the same form `text.parse` reads back: `A1`, `B2` and `C2`.

### How it is stored

It is stored in one column named for the field, of type `text`. `B2` is stored as `'B2'`.

### How it is shown to people

`text.format(value, locale:)` shows it to people in their locale.

With `locale: Locale.en_gb`:

| Value | Shown |
|---|---|
| `A1` | `A1` |
| `B2` | `B2` |
| `C2` | `C2` |

### Operations

It also takes `text.parse`, `text.from`, `text.format`, `json.read`, `json.write` and `==`. [How every standard type behaves](/docs/every-standard-type-meets-one-contract.md) says how they work.
