LotNumber
On this page
A manufacturing batch: up to 20 characters, such as ABC123.
Use it to trace a production run, as a recall needs. For one single item, use SerialNumber.
Shape
One value, held as text in one set form, with no parts: 2026-10/B.
Example
LotNumber("ABC123")LotNumber(raw) checks the text, and text that isn't one breaks the format rule.
text.parse(raw, as: LotNumber) reads one from text that comes from outside. Text that isn't one at all fails malformed, such as LOT 1, Lot#1 or ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTU.
Good to know
- It can't contain spaces or
#, since these are the characters GS1 barcodes take. ==tells you whether two are the same.<andlist.sort_bydon't take it.
In JSON
A string, in a request, a response or json.write:
"ABC123""2026-10/B"
Details
Text form, storage, how it is shown, and operations
LotNumber is in the group Commerce and logistics, and has been in Jadpo since 0.1.0.
Text form
text.from writes one standard text form, the same form text.parse reads back: ABC123 and 2026-10/B.
How it is stored
It is stored in one column named for the field, of type text. 2026-10/B is stored as '2026-10/B'.
How it is shown to people
text.format(value, locale:) shows it to people in their locale.
With locale: Locale.en_gb:
| Value | Shown |
|---|---|
ABC123 |
ABC123 |
2026-10/B |
2026-10/B |
Operations
It also takes text.parse, text.from, text.format, json.read, json.write and ==. How every standard type behaves says how they work.
