UpcA
On this page
The 12-digit barcode number on products in the US and Canada.
Use it to identify a retail product there. Elsewhere, use Ean13.
Shape
One value, held as text in one set form, with no parts: 614141000036.
Example
UpcA("036000291452")UpcA(raw) checks the text, and text that isn't one breaks the format rule.
text.parse(raw, as: UpcA) reads one from text that comes from outside. Text that isn't one at all fails malformed, such as 036000291453, 36000291452 or 4006381333931.
Good to know
- It is text so that its leading zero is kept, and it checks its own last digit.
==tells you whether two are the same.<andlist.sort_bydon't take it.
In JSON
A string, in a request, a response or json.write:
"036000291452""614141000036"
